So if I'm in Brooklyn talking to someone in Newark, this should work?
Could this run off just the included USB cable as a power source? if so, Im all in!
or is it only used for charging the batteries?
baofeng uv5r + CHIRP = no brainer
I think these are definitely worth the $20. I'm in for two pair. I needed an NOAA radio receiver anyway for emergencies. I'll give away the other pair as a Christmas present or something.
Good enough for the kids
These radios are low power and use FRS bands, so no ham radio license is required. The advertised range is in ideal conditions with no interference.
Only buying this after Irma almost scared the shit out of Florida & having a Weather Radio seemed important. I had plenty of power banks to keep my devices charged, but it could have only lasted me a day or two. Weather Radio + AA Batteries = set for Irma 2.0.
